Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

Stuffing Mix

  • 1 box (6 oz) boxed stuffing mix
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

Sauce

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the dish.
  2. Prepare Baking Dish and Chicken: Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray. Place the boneless, skinless chicken breasts evenly spaced in the dish.
  3. Make Stuffing Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the boxed stuffing mix, water, and melted butter until the stuffing is moistened and evenly mixed.
  4. Top the Chicken: Spread the prepared stuffing mixture evenly over the chicken breasts in the baking dish, covering them completely.
  5. Prepare Sauce: In another bowl, whisk together the cream of chicken soup and chicken broth until smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Pour Sauce Over: Pour the soup and broth mixture evenly over the chicken and stuffing layer in the baking dish.
  7. Bake Covered: Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, allowing the chicken to cook through and the stuffing to steam.
  8. Uncover and Brown: Remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked (internal temperature reaching 165°F) and the stuffing topping is golden brown.
  9. Rest Before Serving: Remove the dish from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes to allow juices to redistribute before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sprinkle some dried herbs like thyme or sage into the stuffing mix before baking.
  • Use low-sodium chicken broth to reduce salt content.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
  • Ensure chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F for safe consumption.
