This easy Crockpot Brown Sugar Pineapple Ham is a perfect sweet and savory dish made effortlessly in your slow cooker. The spiral-cut bone-in ham is coated with a flavorful glaze of Dijon mustard, honey, brown sugar, and pineapple tidbits, which infuse moisture and a subtle tangy sweetness to every slice. Slow cooking on low heat ensures the ham is tender, juicy, and ready for a delightful holiday or family meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Ham and Glaze

  • 8.5 lb bone-in spiral cut ham
  • 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • ½ cup honey
  • 20 oz can pineapple tidbits (with the juice)
  • 1 ¼ cups brown sugar
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

Instructions

  1. Place the ham into the slow cooker. Position the spiral cut ham inside your crockpot, making sure it fits comfortably for even cooking.
  2. Apply Dijon mustard and honey. Gently separate the slices of the ham, then rub the Dijon mustard and honey thoroughly all over the ham, carefully getting in between the slices to ensure full flavor coverage.
  3. Add pineapple tidbits and juice. Pour the pineapple and its juice evenly over the ham, covering the top and sides to impart moisture and sweetness.
  4. Sprinkle brown sugar and tuck garlic. Evenly sprinkle the brown sugar over the ham and around the slow cooker, then tuck the minced garlic cloves in and around the ham to add aromatic flavor.
  5. Cook on low heat. Cover the slow cooker and cook the ham on the LOW setting for about 4 hours, or until the ham is heated through and reaches an internal temperature of 140°F for optimal safety and tenderness.
  6. Glaze before serving. Once cooked, spoon the flavorful pineapple brown sugar glaze from the slow cooker over the ham slices just before serving to add extra moisture and a glossy finish.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the ham reaches an internal temperature of 140°F for safety and perfect heat through.
  • If your slow cooker runs hot, you may want to reduce cooking time slightly to prevent drying out.
  • For a thicker glaze, you can transfer some of the cooking liquid to a saucepan and simmer until reduced, then drizzle over the ham.
  • This recipe works best with bone-in spiral cut ham due to its even slicing and ability to soak up the glaze.
  • Leftover ham can be refrigerated for up to 4 days and reheated gently in the microwave or oven.
