Roll Ups
- 4 12-inch flour tortillas
- 4 slices Provolone cheese (about 5 ounces)
- 1/2 lb deli sliced roast beef
- 3/4 cup French fried onions
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Dipping Sauce
- 1 can (10.5 oz) beef consommé
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425ºF to prepare for baking the roll ups.
- Assemble Ingredients: Lay the tortillas flat on your work surface. Tear the provolone cheese into smaller pieces and evenly distribute over each tortilla. Layer the deli-sliced roast beef over the cheese, followed by a sprinkle of French fried onions on top.
- Roll the Tortillas: Fold the sides of each tortilla inward, then tightly roll each into a cylindrical shape. Brush a little olive oil on the edge to seal the roll, and place seam side down on a baking sheet. Repeat for all four tortillas.
- Brush with Olive Oil: Lightly brush the tops of the rolled tortillas with the remaining olive oil to help them brown evenly during baking.
- Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the roll ups until golden and browned, about 10 minutes.
- Prepare Dipping Sauce: While the roll ups bake, combine the beef consommé, water, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, onion powder, and garlic powder in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir gently and cook until warmed through.
- Serve: Remove the roll ups from the oven, cut them in half, and serve immediately with the warm beef consommé dipping sauce on the side.
Notes
- You can substitute provolone with Swiss or mozzarella cheese if preferred.
- French fried onions add a crunchy texture — don’t skip them!
- If you prefer a spicier dip, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the consommé.
- These roll ups are best served fresh and hot, but leftovers can be reheated in the oven to retain crispiness.
- Use store-bought roast beef for convenience, or leftover homemade roast beef for enhanced flavor.
