Ingredients

Scale

Burger Patties:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 5 ounces fresh baby spinach leaves, chopped
  • 2 ounces crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/3 cup chopped sun-dried tomatoes
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon table salt

Buns & Toppings:

  • Sandwich buns
  • Fresh baby spinach leaves
  • Sliced tomato
  • Sliced shallot
  • Tzatziki sauce

Instructions

  1. Make Burger Patties: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped fresh baby spinach, crumbled feta cheese, chopped sun-dried tomatoes, egg, and salt. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly incorporated. Shape the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties. Place the patties on a plate or tray and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow them to firm up, making them easier to cook and handle.
  2. Toast Buns: Heat a pan over medium heat or prepare your grill. Drizzle a small amount of cooking oil on the inside faces of the sandwich buns. Place the buns face down on the hot pan or grill and toast for a few minutes until they are golden brown and slightly crispy. Remove and set aside on a serving plate.
  3. Cook Burger Patties: Increase the heat to medium-high on the pan or maintain medium heat to reduce smoke (this will result in a longer cooking time). Drizzle some cooking oil into the pan to prevent sticking. Cook the patties in batches, flipping occasionally, until they develop a nice char on both sides and reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) to ensure they are safely cooked. Add extra oil to the pan if it becomes dry during cooking.
  4. Serve: Assemble the burgers by placing each cooked patty on a toasted bun. Add fresh baby spinach leaves, sliced tomato, sliced shallot, and a generous dollop of tzatziki sauce on top. Serve the burgers hot and enjoy this delicious Greek-inspired meal.

Notes

  • Note 1: Use lean ground beef for juicier and healthier patties.
  • Note 2: Sun-dried tomatoes add a sweet and tangy flavor; ensure they are chopped finely for even distribution.
  • Note 3: Feel free to customize toppings based on your preference, such as adding cucumber slices or olives.
  • Note 4: Choose sandwich buns that hold up well to the moist toppings and patties, such as brioche or whole wheat buns.
  • Note 5: Tzatziki sauce can be store-bought or homemade for added freshness and flavor.
