Ingredients

Scale

Protein and Vegetables

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)

Oils and Aromatics

  • 2 tbsp olive oil (divided)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)

Sauce

  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 3 tbsp sriracha sauce
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Seasoning and Garnish

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, sriracha, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and optional sesame oil until well combined. Set aside to allow flavors to meld.
  2. Sauté broccoli: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add broccoli florets and cook for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are bright green and just tender. Remove the broccoli from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Cook ground chicken: Add the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil to the same skillet. Add ground chicken and season with salt and black pepper. Break the chicken into small pieces and cook for about 5 to 6 minutes until it is browned and cooked through.
  4. Add garlic: Stir in minced garlic to the browned chicken and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  5. Add sauce and simmer: Pour the prepared honey sriracha sauce over the chicken. Stir well to coat all the meat. Let it simmer for 2 to 3 minutes or until the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Combine broccoli and chicken: Return the sautéed broccoli to the skillet with the chicken and toss everything together to ensure the broccoli is evenly coated with the sauce.
  7. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle sesame seeds and sliced green onions over the top just before serving for added flavor and texture. Serve hot over rice or noodles if desired.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free version, use tamari sauce instead of soy sauce.
  • The sesame oil and red pepper flakes are optional but add extra depth and heat.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or lean pork for a different protein option.
  • Adjust sriracha quantity to control spice level.
  • Serve over steamed rice, quinoa, or noodles for a complete meal.
