Ingredients

Scale

Vegetables & Oils

  • 2 large jalapeños (stems removed, sliced in half, seeded)
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

Dairy

  • 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)

Seasonings & Condiments

  • 1 tablespoon whole-grain Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon dried chives
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to get it ready for roasting the jalapeños.
  2. Prepare jalapeños: Place the halved and seeded jalapeños on a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil, then toss lightly to coat all pieces evenly.
  3. Roast jalapeños: Roast the jalapeños in the preheated oven for about 12 minutes, or until they become soft and slightly charred, intensifying their flavor.
  4. Combine cream cheese and jalapeños: Once the jalapeños have cooled, transfer them to a mixing bowl and combine with the softened cream cheese.
  5. Add seasonings: Stir in Dijon mustard, dried chives, dried parsley, garlic powder, lemon juice, paprika, black pepper, and cayenne pepper until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
  6. Adjust and serve: Taste the cream cheese mixture and adjust the seasoning if needed. Transfer to a serving dish and enjoy as a dip or spread.

Notes

  • For extra heat, leave some seeds in the jalapeños before roasting.
  • Serve with crackers, chips, or fresh vegetables for a delicious snack.
  • Store leftover spread in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • You can substitute fresh herbs for dried if preferred, but reduce the quantity by half.
  • If you want a smoother texture, blend the mixture in a food processor until creamy.
