Ingredients

Scale

Dumpling Lasagna

  • 1214 dumpling wrappers
  • 200g (about 1 cup) ground chicken
  • ½ cup finely chopped cabbage
  • 1 clove garlic, grated
  • ½ teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt & pepper to taste

For Garnish

  • Chili oil, for drizzling
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Optional: sliced green onion, for topping

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling: In a bowl, thoroughly mix the ground chicken, finely chopped cabbage, grated garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper until well combined to create the flavorful filling.
  2. Soften the dumpling wrappers: Briefly microwave or steam the dumpling wrappers to soften them, making them pliable enough to layer without tearing.
  3. Layer the lasagna: Grease individual ramekins to prevent sticking. Place one softened dumpling wrapper at the bottom of each ramekin, then spoon a layer of the filling over it. Repeat layering with another wrapper and filling 3 to 4 times, finishing the top with a dumpling wrapper.
  4. Cook the lasagna: Cover the ramekins tightly with foil to keep moisture in. Steam the layered dumpling lasagna for 20 minutes until cooked through, or alternatively bake it in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes until fully cooked and flavorful.
  5. Finish and serve: Remove the foil, drizzle the lasagna with chili oil, and sprinkle sesame seeds on top. Add sliced green onions if desired for extra freshness and garnish. Serve the hot dumpling lasagna directly in the ramekins for a charming presentation.

Notes

  • Steaming keeps the dumpling wrappers soft and tender, while baking provides a slightly firmer texture and deeper flavor.
  • Ensure the filling is well combined for even flavor distribution through each layer.
  • You can substitute ground chicken with ground pork or turkey according to preference.
  • Adjust the amount of chili oil based on your heat tolerance.
  • Make sure to grease ramekins well to prevent sticking during cooking.
